URGENT Call To Action, Your Taxes Are Being Raised

Dear Fellow Hosts,

URGENT

Are you aware that the city of Santa Rosa has started a process to raise the taxes that you and your guests pay, not once but TWICE.

They are proposing a ballot measure to RAISE the TOT tax by 2% to make us on par with Healdsburg AND they are including us for the FIRST TIME in the Business License Tax at a proposed rate of $3.50 for every $1000 of revenue.

The city is claiming that it needs to raise revenue.

1. The city of Santa Rosa has spent the last 4 years banning and capping what we do through legislation. Had they simply allowed our fellow citizens to engage in Short Term Rentals, we would not have this revenue shortfall in the first place. It is ludicrous that they are banning us, and then taxing us out of existence. What is the real goal here? Do they want people to visit Santa Rosa or not? It seems no. We wonder how are fellow small business owners such as restaurants and retail feel about that.

2. The Business License tax is in effect DOUBLE TAXATION. We are already paying TOT and Business Improvement Area taxes. Why are they taxing us TWICE.

3. Please send your public comment to the city council cc-comment@srcity.org, and come to the meeting on Tuesday, July 9th at 2:30PM to make your voice heard.
